Back in 1878 a Civil War veteran
constructed his first trunk in Petersburg, Virginia. The
trunk makers company focused on building quality trunks
based on their customers' needs. The steamers and trunks
filled cargo holds of ocean liners, carried salesmen's samples
from town to town, and protected items such as afghans,
quilts, and important family documents. The voyagers stored
their trunks in their quarters. If the voyagers had multiple
trunks they were stored in cargo hold, and were not accessible
during the journey.
Families now utilize Steamer Trunks
as tables, luggage, nightstands, extra storage, as well
as decoration for each room. Each trunk is a elegant and
unique family heirloom gift. All of the Steamer Trunks and
lockers in this section are currently hand-made. These Steamer
Trunks offer traditional features such as leather handles,
sturdy wooden construction, wooden trays, moisture resistant
tongue closures, push button key locks, and powerful brass
corners.
